Tips and tricks for better travel photography

Do you want to take better pictures, but aren't sure where to start? Or are you an 'enthusiast' who just wants your images to pop more? Our Travel and Street Photography workshops and photo walks are a perfect opportunity for you to spend a day developing your travel and street photography skills and techniques.  From candid environmental portraiture to Melbourne’s iconic city architecture, or low light and night scenes.

Jacqui B Workshops are a great opportunity for those starting out in photography, for those who have a new camera and are not sure how to use it to its full potential or wanting to increase their skill set, or for those who just want to take better pictures in general.

Not only do I know what I’m doing, I love what I do! And unlike many photo workshops, you'll be dealing with me, personally, from beginning to end. I'll respond to your inquiry, answer all your questions, help you prepare, and lead your workshop myself.

You will leave the workshop with a renewed vision and confidence as well as new friends who share the same passion for street photography

  • How to get better travel photographs

  • Improving your landscape images

  • The fundamentals of photography including ISO, aperture and shutter speed

  • How to apply these fundamentals to the process of shooting your camera manually

  • Shooting at different times of the day

  • Secrets to make your images really pop

Put simply, my goals for each workshop are to see that you get the best images possible, and to make you a better photographer. (You’ll also meet great people and have a lot of fun.)

What you need to bring:

  •  DSLR Canon, Nikon, Other - your choice. Mirrorless systems are welcome, too!

  • A Sturdy Tripod his is a must!  Consult with us if you don't have one you're thrilled with, we can recommend the right one for your needs and save you time and money.  (Please let me know if you need to borrow one)

  • Fully charged battery and extra batteries for your camera if you have one. With such a long day usually batteries will start to run out around the 4 hour mark.

  • Memory Cards - Plenty to get you through the workshop - ideally you want enough cards so that you don't have to format any cards while on the workshop.

  • Remote Trigger (Optional) For your camera's shutter.  If you have a touch shutter, you will not need one.

  • Filters We don't use a lot of filters, but a Circular Polarizer and an ND Filter are our favorites. I recommend a nice strong Netrual Density Filter.

  • A torch for night photography.

  • A camera cover or unbrella if it is raining

  • A lens cleaning cloth

  • Some money for lunch or snacks

  • Warm clothes

  • Walking boots or shoes (recommended)

We do have cameras and tripods for loan if you do not have one, but want to do this workshop

You do not have to have ALL of this equipment, it's a general list of what we recommend.  If you've got questions, we're here for you anytime, just holler.

The meeting point for this workshop is on the steps of St Paul's Cathedral .

Address: Flinders Ln & Swanston St, Melbourne VIC 3000

I highly recommend you park at Flinders Gate Car Park.  I always prebook before the day to save money.  It is much cheaper to do this. The carpark is oppisite Federation Square next to Nando's.  It is at 172 Flinders Street.

Success! Message received.
